Becoming the master of our minds-Let Go!

Something that I’ve done my whole life, and I know that we all do subconsciously as humans is DWELLING. Now there is a huge difference between letting go of our past while having faith in our future vs. dwelling on our past and therefore dwelling and anticipating the future. There is also a huge difference between dwelling on future events and what COULD BE vs. having faith in the future and having faith that God is with you.
Often times we fear our future because of our past. We have seen the mistakes we or others have made in the past and therefore we dwell on the future; the mistakes that could be made, the things we could/should do better, the “what if’s, and’s or but’s”. Now even though those concerns may be a righteous desire, HOPING you will do better in the future, I still don’t believe that God wants us to be only HOPING to do better: I think God wants us to KNOW that we CAN do better, simply because He is with us, for that is His very nature. God wants us to have faith in Him NOW. He wants us to stop wondering how the future will turn out, why certain things happened the way they did, if things could have turn out differently… etc. He wants us to forget ourselves, our thought and our worries, anything that may burden us and hold us back from moving forward, so that we can know that the future is bright and that we can enjoy today because He is with us. I know with all my heart this is exactly why God wants us to have faith in Him now, so that we do not have to be left wondering how thing will turn out. As much as God wants us to do good and to succeed, He wants us to enjoy life and enjoy the here and now. He wants us to give to Him our thoughts that concern us, make us anxious, that leave us wondering… etc so they do not burden us and replace our thoughts of faith and joy. Give those thoughts to Him and move forward with faith. I love the prophets quote “The future is as bright as our faith.” How true that is. Don’t fear the future, but have faith that God is with you now, as He has promised us several times in the bible, and through modern day prophets and leaders, “I am with you, even until the end”. Trust this, have faith in this, and enjoy the experiences and lessons that He has for you today. Let Go! Enjoy life through your faith in God, don’t endure it on your own!

“Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured”
~Gordon B. Hinkley

Giving your burdening thoughts to God, replacing them with faith in His companionship and love, is how you will enjoy life!
